Interview With Amy Pierro

Featured Model - 2009

Interviewed by Tammy Renee'

WP: Hi Amy! I know I've said it once but, I will say it again, I bet you don't know just how really pretty you are. I see pictures all day of Models and athletes but, there is just something about your clean look that really stands out! I don't really say that too to many people but, I have to tell you.

AP: Thank you, Tammy. I really needed to hear that today.

WP: It is my pleasure! Now, let’s begin with you telling our viewers a little about yourself.

AP: I am a sales executive for BSN and absolutely love representing the best line of sports supplements in the world! In my free time, I love to have fun modeling and lead a very active and healthy lifestyle. I’ve been an athlete all my life and now enjoy weight lifting and running to stay muscular but feminine at the same time.

WP: BSN is one of the top supplement companies in this industry! You are a part of a very well known, well respected company. What has been your stepping stone to get where you are today?

AP: My stepping stone would have to be from the time I was competing as an equestrian during the ages of 9-18. Owning horses growing up, I learned responsibility and discipline at an early age, I think. I dedicated myself to it every day much like I do now with my training.

WP: What has it been like to maintain your physique today? Has it been a tough road?

AP: I was always into sports and then wanted to see what I could really do to enhance my physique with weight training. I keep seeing results so, I keep going back for more. Ha-ha! Only difference now is that I’ve chilled out from competing to focus on modeling and with that, I’ve been able to relax and enjoy myself more. I’m not saying I wouldn’t jump back up on stage again but, for now I’m just having some fun!

WP: Everyone needs time to just relax and have fun. It's actually better for your physique when you do. Where do you reside now?

AP: I live by the beach in Boca Raton, FL. It’s gorgeous there and often times, the setting for my photo shoots; which is very convenient!

WP: I have seen the settings of your photos. They are breathetaking! Have you ever played any type of sports or activities?

AP: I played soccer and had the best time of my life as Captain of the girls Varsity Team for Andover High School in Massachusetts. With my horses, I competed in stadium jumping andcross country events. I was always at a horse show. Other than that, I took up Muah Thai Kickboxing for several years after College.

WP: I can see you as a Captain of a volleyball team. Ha-ha! As for horses and always being at a horse show, I grew up doing that, too. I love horses! You mentioned your modeling more now and just enjoying the time you spend doing it. What has modeling taught you thus far?

AP: Modeling has taught me a lot about myself. I have gained more confidence with each shoot I do. I know now that it is possible to make improvements every time as long as you recognize your weaknesses and focus on making adjustments to improve the next time around. I’ve learned not to get discouraged as it is a very competitive industry and there are so many beautiful faces and physiques out there trying to get noticed. I try to have fun with it and not take it too seriously.

WP: You just hit on an area I attempt to teach models in this industry. It's not slap in the face when you are turned down for a job. It's not a "personal" issue. The person saying, "Next" is not telling you that you are not pretty enough, fit enough, or good enough. What that person is really saying to you is that you are not what they are looking for at the time. But, so many models take it as a 'personal attack' but, that's not it at all. What was the hardest thing for you to overcome when you first started?

AP: I just felt awkward, I think. It took me a little while to warm up to the camera and to find the confidence to just have fun with it. I was so serious in the beginning and it showed in my face and body language. I’ve come a long way and I think that’s just a part of becoming a woman and feeling comfortable with my sexuality.

WP: Well said! Stress shows in a models face and even how the model stands. Relax! Enjoy! Have fun! Don't be afraid to learn and practice and show the camera you are a sexy woman! That's what sets the best models apart from the others. What was the hardest thing you had to deal with when it came to your diet?

AP: I think being Italian and growing up with my Dad being a chef. My whole family was in the restaurant business and man, did we EAT! I’m dieting right now, in fact, and I’d kill for a big bowl of pasta, sauce, bread…everything!

WP: Being Italian is one reason I was over 350 pounds myself! So, I know what you are going through. Shall we pray? Ha-ha! What are the key factors that dictate the way you model today?

AP: In the beginning, I never set any boundaries for myself when it came to modeling. I’d just jump into anything and I wouldn’t put too much thought into it. I think that is a very ignorant way to go about modeling and I’ve learned the hard way by working with inexperienced photographers or ones that did not portray me in the right light. Now, I make sure I know exactly what I am willing to do and not to do during a shoot. You can’t take the photos back once they are out there and I have some regrets about the way I represented myself in the past. Live and learn.

WP: But, it's gotten you to the point you're at now. How has your training compare to when you model to when you do not. What do you do differently?

AP: I competed as an NPC competitor and really stayed lean, hard, and often times vascular. To do that, I lifted heavy and did cardio every day; just train, train, train. I ate 6-7 times a day and even did double cardio sessions. Now, I try not to over do it so much and opt for a fuller/sexier physique by eating healthier and not over training.

WP: You mentioned you compete as an NPC competitor. What titles/accomplishments have you thus far? Tell me about them

AP: Top ten Southern States Figure and Fitness Championships 2007 which was NPC. I took 3rd place in the West Palm Pro-Am 2007 Open Class B figure and took 4th place in the Masters Class.

WP: Wow! You've done well! Where do you see your career and life in 10 years from now?

AP: I hope to be in the best shape of my life and still active in the fitness industry in some way. I don’t necessarily need to be modeling, still, at that point.

WP: With the way you are going, you'll be modeling way after that time in your life! Can you tell me any photographers you’ve worked with, or someone you’d like to work with?

AP: I’ve worked with several photographers and have enjoyed working with “most” of the m. Ha-ha! I can say that I probably enjoyed my time with David Ford of Status Fitness Magazine the most, as he captured some of my best images and, just really made me feel comfortable. I am actually in their newest issue coming out this month and I really like my model feature! David made me smile the whole time just because of his warm personality and I can see the content and joy on my face. He’s amazing! So go get STATUS FITNESS MAGAZINE. Winter Issue # 8 on sale at Barnes & Noble, GNC, and Bodybuilding.com! There is an email address next to my feature where you can vote for me to be their next covermodel!

WP: I will pick one up tomorrow! Congratulations! And I will be sure to vote for you for the cover model! Working with BSN, you have to take supplements and we want to know which ones you take. What supplements do you currently take?

AP: I take BSN products all day long and have for the past 6 years. I take Lean Dessert Protein, N.O. Xplode, Nitrix, and Atro-Phex.

WP: Slow down! I'm writing my supplement list to pick up the next time I am supplement shopping! Ha-ha! Laugh but, I'm for real! If those supplements can make me have the type of physique you have; I'm running to the store! Forget the car! Ha-ha! What are your pet peeves?

AP: Wow! This is a loaded question! Ha-ha! But, for some reason, my biggest pet peeve is hearing people chew with their mouth open…drives me insane!!! I also can’t stand listening to people munch on popcorn at the movie theater. Ha-ha!

WP: You have me laughing! I use to get into some kind of trouble growing up when I would smack at dinner time! My dad drilled it in me and I can't tolerate it now since I am older! What do you consider to be important in life and why?

AP: Being close to your family and being loved is what is important to me. At the end of the day, we all work hard and are trying to make a living but, being successful can be lonely if you don’t have people to share it with.

WP: So true! So true! I love prying your pretty little head with these questions. So far, you've hung in there! I have just a few more. How have you changed over the past few years when it comes to thinking, actions, and life in general?

AP: I think now I am more focused on my career than I ever have been before.

WP: Give me an example of your workout.

AP: I lift weights 4 times a week with a little cardio after and then do cardio the other 3 days. It’s a lot but I love it. I lift for about 50 minutes on a split training schedule.

WP: Give me an example of your diet. What do you normally eat each day?

AP: I eat clean year round and my boring menu consists of chicken, turkey, tilapia, and salmon for protein, mainly. Then, I rotate sweet potato, brown rice, and oatmeal for carbs. Veggies consist of mostly broccoli and asparagus; this is all, of course, when I’m dieting. I love all vegetables and get more creative with my food choices when I’m just hanging out and not preparing for anything. I am a sushi fanatic, love Italian food, and I could eat my weight in frozen yogurt!

WP: Ummmm, frozen yogurt! Any shout outs?

AP: Yeah! I’d like to give a shout out to the sales team at BSN!!! They are all amazing people to work with and have become my dearest friends. I love you guys!

WP: Could you tell me about your future projects?

AP: I am preparing to shoot later this month with a photographer who is affiliated with some fitness magazines. This should be should be fun!

WP: Hummm, my magazine is doing two major layouts pretty soon that we're getting ready to publish! Hint-hint! What are your stats, Amy?

AP: I am 5.5, about 120 pounds; give or take and have a 24 inch waist.

WP: I know you are busy, Amy and I am lucky to have held you down this long. I'm closing the interview now. It has been a pleasure interviewing you! I wish you all the best of luck! Thank you! I am sure we will work together very soon together again.

AP: Thank you! I enjoyed the interview!
