Interview With Charla Cormier
Hottest Mom - 2009

Interviewed by Tammy Renee'
Charla is originally from Texas. She is 35 years old, married and a mother of 3 children (with only two children living). After having her third child in 2004, she reached her heaviest; 170 lbs. She was very miserable and was determined to break the OVER-WEIGHT-MOMMY-MOLD! She began doing research on diet, weight training and competitions.
She stepped on stage that same year to compete just 9 months after having her third child and placed 6th out of 12 ladies. She competed in several other shows, even at the National Level. She is now a sponsored athlete for All American EFX www.aaefx.com, Certified Personal Trainer, one of the developers of 'The Cave Man Plan.com' and one very happy mommy and wife!
Charla was actually our Cover Model in the month of March, 2009 and we had named her, "Hottest Mom, 2009". Since she was traveling all over the world at the time she made the cover, we weren't able to hold her down long enough to interview her. So, we finally caught up with her and we're very honored to have Charla here.
WP: Charla, you are an inspiration to all mother's out there. You have shown the world that you can be a mom and be fit at the same time. Your goal is actually to help mother's reach their best physiques. Can you tell me what has been your stepping stone to get where you are today?
CC: All American EFX and my drive and passion for fitness and believing I can reach my goals no matter what is thrown at me!
WP: What has it been like to maintain your physique? Have you done anything different lately?
CC: It is pretty easy now to maintain because of The Cave Man Plan but before, I would almost get lost after a competition! Once the competition or photo shoot is done, I felt like I didn’t have to be strict with my eating anymore and would end up gaining 10 pounds back until the next competition! YUCK! I love the feeling of being lean! Anyway, now that I follow The Cave Man Plan rules and can apply them on and off-season, I stay pretty lean year round!
WP: I've seen so many competitors do what you just described. I would have to say that has to be harmful. Where do you reside now?
CC: I reside in California.
WP: I know you have competed before. Can you tell me about that?
CC: Yes, I have competed and I love it! The first competition I did really gave me that extra push I needed to go above and beyond and it gave me the drive to never stop until I reached my goal! I would suggest it to anyone who wants or needs that extra push to achieve their fitness goal! Beware, it is addicting! Ha-ha!
WP: Since it's so addicting, are you planning to compete again in the future?
CC: I just competed at the Arnold Sports Festival and am planning on one more at the end of the year.
WP: What other sports or activities did or do you enjoy?
CC: I love gymnastics and Kickboxing!
WP: You mentioned your family earlier. Tell me about them, please.
CC: AHHHH, my family; they are my ROCK! They have always supported everything I do. I love them and am very blessed to have them in my life.
I am married to my very best buddy, Rob Cormier. He and I went to school together from 1st to the12th grade, but were never High School sweet hearts; just great friends. When we met up again 7 years after we graduated, we fell in love!
WP: You sound so happy! What has figure competitions taught you thus far?
CC: Competing, for me, is just a great way to show your strength inside and out! When prepping for a competition, there is so much that goes into it such as discipline, dedication and determination. These are a must! It has really taught me that I can do whatever I set my mind to and that anyone can have a super, hot body. You just have to believe in yourself and do the work!
WP: I bet all of your fans will agree that you have a super, hot body! What was the hardest thing for you to overcome when you first started?
CC: The hardest thing to overcome was snacking on my kid’s left-over food. Ha-ha!
WP: Ha-ha! I can't not see you doing that! Shame on you! Ha! What was the hardest thing you had to deal with when it came to your diet, other then your kid's left overs, that is?
CC: The hardest is taking my meals with me at all times! It was a hassle sometimes when I am in the middle of being mommy and taking care of my little ones. I had to remember about me, too!
WP: Yes, that is tough at times. But, without a healthy mommy, your kids can not be healthy. So, you are not just doing it for you; you're doing it for them, too. What are the key factors that dictate the way you train today?
CC: Make a GOAL, not an EXCUSE! Train hard!
WP: The words of the wise! How has your training changed over the years?
CC: Well, I train by doing more circuit type training and try to have more fun with my workouts by mixing them up all the time. I do not like the set-in-stone schedule and the same old routine each time!
WP: What titles/accomplishments have you thus far? Tell me about them.
CC: I have been in many advertisements for the product 'Kre-a-fem by All American EFX'. I’ve been on the cover of two very cool magazines: Bakotopia and the very hot World Physique Magazine, who named me ‘Hottest Mom of 2009! I am one of the developers of the newest eating plan called The Cave Man Plan. I am involved with the Dr. Phil Show, training a brother and sister team to help them get back into shape; update shows will be coming up soon, so watch! I have been in the ‘Who’s Hot Section’ of Muscular Development Magazine. I have placed top 3 in a couple competitions, competed at National Level and have been featured on many websites.
I guess that is not to bad for an old lady! Ha-ha!
WP: Wow! No wonder why you're traveling all over the world! Ha-ha! You are so far from being old! I don't even want to hear it! Where do you see your career and life in 10 years from now?
CC: Well, I will be 45. WOW!
WP: Spring chicken, girl, just a spring chicken! Uggg, you just made me think of my age 10 years from now! I'll be driving one of those 'Power Chairs' while you're still running around the farm! Ha-ha! Now, give me a straight answer, please!
CC: Ha-ha! I will still be in the fitness industry and I will still be helping other achieve their goals. I am hoping by then, I am back in Texas and able to join forces with my sister, Cheryl, and my brother, Bryan, who are both very into fitness, as well. We would make one awesome team! Go check out Cheryl at: www.sculptmoves.com and Bryan at: www.thecavemanplan.com
WP: I just checked out their websites! You three would be a powerful force! OMG! Your sister is a pretty as you are! You have such a good looking, classy family!
Are you doing any modeling?
CC: Yes, I model for All American EFX from time to time and I work with different photographers from time to time, as well.
WP: Since you are All American EFX Spokesmodel, you must be taking their supplements. What supplements do you currently take?
CC: Yes, I am! All of my supplements are from All American EFX. I take Kre-a-fem, L-Glutamine, NF Pro-Protein Powder, Kre-Generator, Liquid Beef Aminos, and their V&M's; which is a vitamin and mineral supplement.
WP: What do you consider to be important in life, and why?
CC: Family and those special people that we meet in life that are forever your friend are very important to me. They are the ones who support you and know you like a book, but will never turn their backs on you in time of need.
WP: What are your pet peeves?
CC: People who do not have any respect for others.
WP: Good answer! How have you changed over the past few years when it comes to thinking, actions, and life in general?
CC: I have a lot more patients! I think once a person can truly be patient and control their actions and words then, they have fully reached their potential in life.
WP: What are your stats such as height, weight, biceps, and waist?
CC: My height is 5’5”, my weight is 128 pounds, biceps are 12 inches., and my waist is 27 inches.
WP: Any shout outs?
CC: I’d like to give a shout out to all my family, friends and fans and sponsor ALL AMERICAN EFX! Thank you for all the support you have given me it really means a lot to me to know you are there. Another shout out to World Physique Magazine for trusting in me to put me on their cover, it really was an honor! I am also proud to be a Team World Physique member!
WP: Oh, blush! You know you are a bright spot in Team World Physique and you are just made to be a cover model! Thank you, Charla!
Now, stop talking mushy and give me an example of your workout. Ha-ha!
CC: Wake up at 4 a.m., get to kickboxing at 5:30 a.m.
WP: Whoa! Stop right there! It takes you an hour and a half?
CC: Yes, I need an hour and a half to get moving and motivated! Ha-ha!
WP: Okay, enough said. Keep going.
CC: I do this 2 to 3 times a week. Two days a week, I train with weights and the other days I may run, do the elliptical, or ride my bike long distance out at the park. I really like to mix it up and keep it interesting so, my schedule is never the same. Some important thing I do is listen to my body! If it needs a break- I take one. I never over train and I stick to The Cave Man Plan, with the exception of one cheat meal on Saturday. I reward myself for being good during the week.
WP: Okay, missy. Give me an example of your diet. What do you normally eat each day?
CC: I eat a variety of foods every 1-1/2 to 2 hrs. I eat around 1500 to 2000 calories. My body is pumped full of nutrition it needs at each interval and I am never hungry and never stuffed feeling. The Cave Man Plan is so awesome. I have to thank my brother, Bryan, whom is a former Marine and Competitive Bodybuilder that came up with this plan. You are awesome!
WP: I really have to try your 'Caveman Diet'. It sounds like a great plan. Could you tell me about your future projects?
CC: I’m registering my daughter for Kindergarten. My son will be going into 1st grade, WOW! Ha-ha. And I will just train my Dr. Phil team really hard, so they can go on to show the world that losing weight and having the body you’ve always wanted can be done!
WP: That is so precious that your daughter is going to Kindergarten. OMG! It's been almost 20 years since my last one went to Kindergarten. *Starts to cry*. Ha-ha! The interview is closing now. Is there anything I have forgotten to mention that you would like to bring to light?
CC: Just to remind people to: Make a GOAL, not and EXCUSE…...always believe in yourself!
WP: Well said! Charla, my friend. It has been a pleasure interviewing you! I wish you all the best of luck! We are always behind you 100%! Go out and make us proud, girl!
CC: Thank you everyone at World Physique!!! You guys are the best! I appreciate all your kindness and support! Take Care!
