“My advice to anybody that wants to become more cut is to eat right. No matter what you take for supplements, or how much you hit the gym, having a clean diet is the most important thing to stay cut.”
WP: What was it that made you know without a doubt that you wanted to go into bodybuilding?
When I graduated high school in 2007, I began to pick up many different bodybuilding and fitness magazines whenever I walked into a store. I, then, began trying different workout routines and hitting the gym harder and harder every time I went. It was then that I decided, without a doubt, that I wanted to go into bodybuilding.
WP: How long have you been lifting?
I began lifting once or twice a week with my football team in high school but, it was just to stay in shape; I was not very serious about it. In 2007, I decided I wanted to become serious about lifting and eventually enter into a bodybuilding competition.
WP: What competitions have you appeared in and what place did you win?
In 2009, I decided to diet and compete in my first bodybuilding show ever. Living in Connecticut, I figured I would do a local natural show and entered into the Fitness Atlantic Musclemania in East Haven, CT. I competed in the junior men’s division placing 8th at 153 lbs. I also competed in the open men’s lightweight division and placed 6th. I exceeded my expectations but this was for my own experience and ever since that day I have wanted to compete again.
WP: That is outstanding! Do you have any advice to people that wish to build more mass and/or more cut?
My advice to anybody that wants to become more cut is to eat right. No matter what you take for supplements, or how much you hit the gym, having a clean diet is the most important thing to stay cut. One cheat meal a week is a great way to get your metabolism in high gear. By introducing the junk into your diet once a week, your metabolism will go crazy to start burning fat.
In a normal day, I eat about 6 to 8 meals consisting of high protein and low carbohydrates. Most of my meals consist of boneless chicken breast, lean steak, oatmeal, brown rice, some vegetables, and low fat milk. I love milk with my meals and drink it with just about every meal.
WP: What supplements do you take?
I like to experiment with different supplements all of the time but now there are so many supplements coming out and claiming outrageous results I found what works for me and will stick with these supplements no matter what.
WP: Do you have anyone you can thank for helping you get where you are?
I have become what I am today because of my family. My mother has pushed me from day one to play sports when I was younger and gave me a lot of discipline. I would like to thank my father for everything he has helped me with from giving me a place to live when I needed it most to helping me prepare for my bodybuilding competition. Without his help and his guidance in bodybuilding I would not be having this interview right now. I also would like to thank John Mitchell from BBpics.com for the great photo shoot as well as giving me the opportunity to succeed in modeling. Someone else, I would like to thank is World Physique Magazine for giving me the opportunity to be featured.
WP: It is all of our pleasure having you as a feature! Tell me about your modeling. You mentioned John Mitchell.
I have just recently begun modeling, as of my first photo shoot with John Mitchell on Memorial Day. It has been a great experience working with John, who not only is a great photographer, but a friend. If it was not for him putting 110% effort in with me then I probably would have never thought about modeling. Thank you John!
WP: What was it like working with him?
John was great. He is very professional with his work. He does not act just as a businessman but, helps you succeed. Working with John was a great experience and I cannot wait to work with him again!
WP: How did he go over and beyond for you?
If it was not for John going above and beyond for me, I would not be featured and interviewed with you today. He not only guided me through the photo shoot but, has e-mailed me day in and day out to stay on top of me making sure I am doing everything possible to succeed in this industry.
WP: Would you recommend him to your friends?
Absolutely, I would recommend him to my friends. I would recommend him to my friends because he does great work and is a great person. I know my friends could trust him with their work and could help them succeed, as well.
In 5 years, I hope to be living the life I want to live completely. I would love to continue with my new job further than 5 years and continue to do bodybuilding and modeling. I want to compete again in the next year or two and come out on top. Also, I would like to see modeling take off and hopefully do it part time when I have time off from cruising Hawaii.
WP: You look great! How do you keep the physique you have? What is the hardest thing for you to face when it comes to keeping your physique.
Thank you! Keeping my physique is actually somewhat easy for me. My father and uncle both competed as bodybuilders from when they were teens to young adults. They both had great physiques and continued to maintain them as they grew older. Genetics has played a huge part in my physique. I have a very fast metabolism and it is very hard to put on mass but staying lean and cut has been the easy task for me. I have a very clean diet and hit the gym hard day in and day out.
WP: Are you married, dating, or do you have kids?
I am single! I have been single for a good amount of time now since I am expecting to leave for Hawaii anytime now I don’t want to have to leave anything behind. It will just be easier to leave without having to say goodbye to anyone but family and have no worries while I am on the ship.
WP: That is true! I can understand your thinking on that. What is your work-out regimen?
My workout regimen consists of 4 days a week with two body parts a day. I always do one big body part such as chest with a small part like calves. I like to mix and match and this is what has worked for me. Sometimes I even split it up into two sessions a day due to lack of time or I feel I will get a better workout in two sessions.
WP: You look like the type of guy that has played sports before. Have you?
Yes! I grew up playing baseball, basketball, and football. I loved playing sports growing up and still do. I currently play adult softball as a hobby and will soon have to give that up!
WP: Anything you would like to see change in the bodybuilding world?
Yes! I would love to see bodybuilding get rid of the drugs. Honestly, the drugs are the worst part in this sport. People are getting outrageously big and it just doesn’t go with the word ‘bodybuilding’. When I look at bodybuilding, I think of people who are in great shape but, look good whether wearing clothing or a bathing suit. If you are so big that when you walk into a store covered up and people think you are fat, that’s not a good thing.
WP: The interview is about to end. Let’s do one more question. What is the proudest moment of your life?
The proudest moment of my life was the day I stepped foot on stage for my first and only competition so far and so how proud my dad was of me following in his footsteps.
WP: You have been a pleasure to interview! Thank you for your time and good luck in your future bodybuilding endeavors!
