"I believe God is important in my life for inspiration and strength, family and friends to keep me grounded and for love and support, church for stability, and good nutrition and working out to keep me physically fit."
WP: What has been your stepping stone to get where you are today?
Over the years I have participated in various local modeling events. In 2003, I was a feature on Denise Austin’s' daily workout show. A few months after that, I was in an infomercial promoting Denise Austin. In 2004, I was a feature in her ball and band workout book.
I have enjoyed working out since about the age of 16, but was always more the aerobic/cardio type. I discovered a love for lifting weights in September 2009 when my husband and I joined Snap Fitness.
WP: What has it been like to maintain your physique? Have you done anything different lately?
I am steadily improving my physique. In July 2010, I started online training and nutrition with Robert Loigu and Kimberly Agnew. I have seen such a big improvement in my physique in just a few months from their program.
WP: Have you ever played any type of sports or activities?
Growing up, I loved playing basketball and baseball with my brothers and cousins. I have not played professional sports. (I love football!) Wink!
WP: I like football as long as it’s the Saints playing! Ha-ha! You are married and have a son, right? Tell me about your family.
I have a large family; 10 aunts, 5 uncles, 46 first cousins, and 2 brothers. I was raised by my grandparents and I have them to thank for making me the person I am today. My grandmother went to be with the Lord in August 2008. I met my husband in February 2000. We got married on February 15, 2003. We have been blessed with an amazing son, Roman, who is now 3 years old.
WP: What has modeling taught you thus far?
It has taught me discipline, dedication, and commitment.
WP: What was the hardest thing for you to overcome when you first started?
I would have to say my shyness. I have grown a lot in that area. I went from a very quiet observant girl to a woman that has such a passion and desire to go after my dreams and give it all I got.
WP: What was the hardest thing you had to deal with when it came to your diet?
Definitely, sweets are the hardest for me. Ha-ha!
WP: Tell me it’s not so, Ms. Butter cream! Ha-ha! I have been trying to be good throughout this entire interview, allowing you to speak, and then you hit me with this!
Don’t act surprised! Ha-ha! I have always had a weakness when it comes to sweets. I blame that on my grandfather. I love cookies, cupcakes, and especially butter cream frosting. I do still have my occasional cheat meals.
WP: Cheat meal? You mean sweet meal! Ha-ha! You know I love you! What are the key factors that dictate the way you model today?
Growing up, I loved drawing clothes designs and putting different looks together. I made my own paper dolls and my Barbie clothing. My grandmother would take me shopping and we would have so much fun picking out clothes with glitter and sparkles.
WP: What have you done as to modeling thus far? You can go ahead and mention being in World Physique, too. It’s a little early but, go ahead.
Yay! I have done local modeling for fashion shows for Celebration Bridal, Fashion Bug. In 2003, I was on Denise Austin’s daily workout, infomercial and in one of her books. My husband and I had our wedding picture displayed in a Phil Vassar music video in 2008. I was featured on World Physique’s website, your website, for April 2010.
I recently did a photo shoot to represent Iron Disciples Clothing Line. I am going to be in the Fall 2010 Issue of World Physique magazine. I also get the honor of holding the title this month for Ms. World Physique.
WP: Where do you see your career and life in 10 years from now?
I am thriving to be a successful fitness/glamour model. I would like to work at getting certified to be a Personal Trainer, too. I want to help other women and be a role model to other moms out there.
WP: You would be really good as a personal trainer! I’d like to see you really going forward with that! Can you tell me any photographers you’ve worked with, or someone you’d like to work with?
I’ve worked with Randi White, Rick Myers, Eddie Kiplinger, and Princeton Clark. I do have upcoming shoots planned with some other amazing photographers.
Wow, there are so many wonderful photographers out there I would like to work with! Here are a few: Mike Byerly, David Ford, Sarah Picturegroove, Tony with OAMG, and all of the World Physique photographers.
WP: Well, by winning this title, you get a free 3 hour session photo shoot with Tony of OAMG. You should contact him! What supplements do you currently take?
I know! I will be making contact with him shortly. As for supplements, I take Vitamin B and C, multi-vitamin, Omega 3-6-9, Chromium, Calcium, and Gaspari Superpump 250 or Dymatize XPAND. In addition, I also take a post-workout shake with EAS Whey Protein with 1 tsp Glutamine.
WP: I’m glad you take all three of the Omega’s! That’s very important. What is your pet peeve?
My pet peeve is when a person says they can’t do it, without even trying. You can do anything that you put your mind to.
WP: What do you consider to be important in life, and why?
I believe God is important in my life for inspiration and strength, family and friends to keep me grounded and for love and support, church for stability, and good nutrition and working out to keep me physically fit.
WP: How have you changed over the past few years when it comes to thinking, actions, and life in general?
With age comes wisdom. I have matured a lot over the years. Being married and having a child teaches responsibility.
WP: If that is true, I must be overloaded with wisdom! Ha-ha! Any shout outs?
There are so many! I want to shout out to my husband, Charlie, for being supportive and loving. I want to make a shout out to my son, Roman, for being my number one fan; my mom, aunts, cousins, my co-workers, and best friend, Danielle. Also, a very special thanks to Robert Loigu, Kimberly Agnew, and you; Tammy, all from World Physique. And not to forget, to Iron Disciples and Randi White.
WP: Give me an example of your workout.
Sure! This is just an example:
Monday: Chest - Dumbbell flat, dumbbell incline, dumbbell decline, and chest press.
Triceps - push-downs, extensions, dips, and nose breakers.
Wednesday: Back - Wide angle bar pull-downs, angle bar pull-downs, bent-over rows, seated rows, and pull-downs on assisted machine.

Meal 2: Banana and 15 walnuts.

Meal 4: Grilled chicken and green beans.
Meal 5: Grilled chicken, ½ cup whole grain brown rice, and 2 cups spinach.
Meal 6: Post-workout protein shake.
In between, if I get hungry, I add another protein.
WP: Is there anything I have forgotten to mention that you would like to bring to light?
I want to thank World Physique, again, for giving me this awesome opportunity.
WP: It has been a pleasure interviewing you! I wish you all the best of luck!
The pleasure is all mine!
