WP: Law Payne. What an interesting name for a Personal Trainer. Tell me us more!
LP: Sure! My name is Law Payne; I’m from Muskogee, Oklahoma. I am a full-time Personal Trainer at 24 hour Fitness in Kansas. I also coach wrestling for a few schools here in the Kansas City Area. If I could sum up what my goal in life was, it would be to help people. I am very passionate about impacting and changing someone’s life for the better and that is the reason I chose my career path. At the same time, I fell in love with modeling & fitness, because it is such a challenge, with the hopes of motivating others through my accomplishments.
WP: What was it that made you know without a doubt that you wanted to go into bodybuilding?
LP: I never wanted to do bodybuilding. I have a lot of bad feelings about the sport and how it is ran presently. I feel like Fitness Modeling is my calling. I stay lean all year around anyways, and it's good to know most of your competition is on the same playing field. However, I do respect bodybuilders and everything they go through.
WP: Fitness Model fits you very well! You found your place in this world! How long have you been lifting?
LP: I started lifting when I was in the 8th grade, so I've been in it for 11 years. What got me started was watching martial art movies my mother used to bring home growing up as a kid. I just loved it when the people on T.V. took their shirts off and looking at their physiques.
WP: It will sure inspire a person! What titles have you won?

LP: I am an All-State Champion in 6A Wrestling, and 2 times State Champion in Track & Field. I have not competed in the sport of modeling just yet. I will be getting my feet wet in the fall. I plan on doing the Muscle Mania in Chicago in October.
WP: Well, good luck! I am sure you will do just fine! What are your best lifts?
LP: My bench-max is at 355 pounds 1-time. Weighing 165 pounds. My squat-max at 700 pounds for 5 reps. And, my shoulder press-max is at 225 pounds for 3 reps!
WP: Those are some pretty good numbers! Since you are a Personal Trainer, I can ask you this question. Do you have any advice to people that wish to build more mass and more cut?
LP: Advice for putting on size is eating good clean foods each and every day. Getting big is almost like a job. You have to train yourself to eat even when you don’t want to. Of course, getting the proper rest in between sets and lifting heavy is very important, as well.
Advice for getting cut is to also eat clean and really watch what you put in your body. Being lean and ripped is a whole lot harder than getting big is. It truly takes a toll on you, mentally and physically you feel like your body breaks down. Depending on how crazy and lean you want to get. I love to stay around 5-10% body fat. Cardio is a must, as well as supplementation.
WP: What do you eat in a normal day?
LP: Breakfast - Isopure protein shakes w/ 75g. of protein and a banana
Snack - Almonds (40 w/ no salt)
Lunch - Salad and 6 oz. of chicken breast w/ balsamic dressing
Snack - Isopure Protein Shake
Dinner - Fish and Veggies
Snack - PB Sandwich
WP: I love those Isopure Protein Shakes myself. I like them because they are lactose free. Do you allow yourself a cheat day?
LP: Yes! On Sunday! All you can eat PIZZA DAY!
WP: What supplements do you take?
LP: I take Protein Powder, Fish Oil, CLA, and ZMA.
WP: Could you tell me a story of how you have gotten where you are today?
LP: I look myself in the mirror every day and I’m not satisfied with where I am at. Every day, I train my body as if I am painting a picture that has no flaws. Always get better and never get worse. I work harder everyday to make sure it happens. My wrestling coach told me something I never forgot and that is to be the best you can be and make no excuses.
WP: Excuses do nothing but put you further behind in life! Do you have anyone you can thank for helping you get where you are?
LP: Yes, I do. Jesus Christ; Lord and Savior.
Bobby Jefferson; Wrestling Coach.
Linda Payne; Mother.
James Hanton; best friend and trainer.
And John Mitchell, Will Patterson, and Andrew Holden; my photographers that has helped me the most.

WP: Tell me about your modeling.
LP: I’ve had the pleasure to work with good people. I got started because a local photographer kept nagging me to take some pictures at his studio and finally I said yes and things took off from there. Through time, I met your Senior Photographer, the great John Mitchell, along with many others. I am thankful for everyone along the way.
WP: Where do you want to be in 5 years?
LP: I wish to have won a few competition and on my way to a successful modeling career and possible movie appearances.
WP: You look great! How do you keep the physique you have? What is the hardest thing for you to face when it comes to keeping your physique?
LP: Thank you very much! The hardest thing for me is staying away from Chips Ahoy! Ha-ha! I love those things!
WP: First you mentioned pizza and now, Chip Ahoy Cookies! You're fixing to make me make a trip to the store! Ha-ha! Now, behave! What gets you up in the morning besides thinking about food? Ha-ha
LP: The fact that I change and help someone accomplish something they never thought was even remotely possible drives me. That is what I am here for!
WP: That's touching! Some people are just made to be teachers and leaders. Sounds like you're one of them. How do you approach a challenge?
LP: I look for challenges and knock them down each and every time. I don’t like excuses, so I don’t make them. I feel like no matter the challenge, there is always a way.
WP: How do you create balance in your life?
LP: I always give myself time to think or meditate. Since I am single now, I have a lot of free time.
WP: You mentioned earlier you worked with our Senior Photographer, John at bbpics.com. What was it like working with him?
LP: Wow. He is the real deal. He doesn’t put up with models that don’t have their thing together. I like him as a person and for the professional he is. He showed me thing I never thought of. He is very passionate about helping others and his business. I would jump at the opportunity to shoot with John anytime. I love his desire to get good shots. He is a perfectionist!
WP: Would you recommend him to your friends?

LP: Yes! He's the best!
WP: Shhhh, don't say that too loud. He might hear you! Ha-ha! What one piece of advice you can share with me on how to gain the most muscle the fastest?
LP: I would tell you to take your time with it. Gaining good quality muscle takes time. Set your goals 1st and get a trainer and start pecking away at it.
WP: Good answer! Who had the most impact on you growing up?
LP: God and all my coaches have impacted me growing up as a kid.
WP: What is your work out regimen?
LP: I train every day. I get 1% better every day. Cardio=50mins, sometimes more depending on if there is a shoot I’m training for. Resistance Training=45mins. I hit every muscle group 3x’s a week.
WP: Have you played in sports before?
LP: I've played Football, Track & Field, Cross Country, Baseball, & and Wrestling.
WP: Anything you would like to see change in the bodybuilding world?
LP: The use of steroids. I have no love for people that cheat. Sets a bad precedent for the youth today.
WP: Any shout outs?
LP: Shout out to James Hanton, Will Patterson, Justin Woltering, Bobby Jefferson, Donaco Watts, John Mitchell, Andrew Holden, and everyone that helped along the way.
WP: What is the funniest story that has happened to you during competitions or while working out?
LP: The funniest thing that ever happened had to be when I shot and I was trying to get a good shot and I blew out and I passed gas. The photo turned out great! Ha-ha!
WP: Now, that is funny! I would have loved to see the Photographer's face! What is the proudest moment of your life?
LP: Winning All-State in Wrestling. Oklahoma is huge!
WP: What are your other interests?
LP: I enjoy MMA, Personal Training, Modeling, Acting, and helping others.
WP: If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
LP: I wish I was smart enough to figure out the cure to Cancer and AIDS. I would give it to everyone. I hate that people are dying and we can’t truly do anything about it.
WP: That is THE best answer I have ever received from that question! That is outstanding! We're closing the interview for now. Is there anything you would like to add that I might have left out?
LP: I would like to say-“Good things happen to people who work hard”. If you want something in life, you will go and get it.
WP: And you can take his word as 'Law'. Ha-ha! You have been a pleasure to interview! Thank you for your time, and good luck in your future modeling endeavors!
LP: Thank you for having me. Take care.
