WP: Hey Ray! Great to have you here! Let's begin with you telling our readers alittle about yourself.
RO: I am a sprinkler fitter from Kansas City, M.O. I live on a five acre farm out in the country. I love to work with my hands and make people laugh.
WP: There is nothing like the farm life. When I was married, we had a farm. I miss that lifestyle. What was it that made you know without a doubt that you wanted to go into bodybuilding?
RO:As an over-weight adolescent, I was picked on a lot and starting working out. Once I starting seeing results and gaining my self confidence back, I was hooked.
WP: I will check more into you being over weight later in the interview. How long have you been lifting?
RO: I've been lifting since High School. I was around 16 years old.
WP: What is your best lift?
RO: Squats.
WP: Do you have any advice to people that wish to build more mass and have more cut?
RO: Building mass, while getting cut, is more difficult then it seems. But, eating boiled chicken while supplementing with protein drink factors in results.
WP: You mentioned eating boiled chicken. What do you eat in a normal day?
RO: On a normal day, I eat asparagus, Grilled fish and drink water.
WP: I love asparagus and grilled fish! You're making me hungry! Do you allow yourself a cheat day?
RO: I will allow myself a cheat day once a week and it's usually on Sunday.
WP: With a physique like yours, you have to take supplements to get that ripped. Can you share what supplements you take?
RO: Believe it or not, Tammy, all I take is Multivitamins and Protein drinks.
WP: Wow! And still have the physique you have! Could you tell me a story of how you have gotten where you are today? Also, can you tell me more about when you were over weight?
RO: As a adolescent, I weighted 205 lbs. with a 36 inch waist and 20 percent body fat. While other kids were out on dates and having fun, I starting hitting the gym and cutting out my meals 3 hours before bedtime. After a few weeks, I slowly started to see results and getting my self confidence back . It was then that I decided I would continue to see how far I could take my fitness and physique. I started to get offers to do photos shoots and finally made my spot in the pages of fitness magazines.
WP: That is one of the best stories I've heard! Ray, we are so much alike when it comes to losing weight and starting to model. I am so proud of you! Do you have anyone you can thank for helping you get where you are?
RO: Indeed. I have to thank Coach Banaka, which was my gym teacher, for always pushing me in school when I thought I should give up.
WP: Give forward! You had someone push you, now it's your turn to push others. You were talking about Modeling. Can you tell me about your modeling?
RO: I was in the April and May 2008 issue of Exercise for Men Magazine and in December 2008 issue of Men’s Exercise. I've also had photos shoots with numerous photographers.
WP: Those are great magazines! That's a big accomplishment! They only pick the best. So, where do you want to be in 5 years, then?
RO: In five years, I want to be a know name in the fitness community.
WP: Oh, excuse me. I thought you already were! Ha-ha! Everywhere I turn, I hear about you! I am sure all of your fans would like to know how do you keep the physique you have? What is the hardest thing for you to face when it comes to keeping your physique?
RO: I workout for 3 hours a day and eat a strict diet of fish and asparagus.
WP: Yeah, I would say that was strict. Tell me about your future projects. Have any in sight?
RO: Oh course you know about the photo shoot with your Photographer, BBpics, in March for World Physique. I have others lined up with your magazine, too!
WP: Oh yeah! You sure do! Ha-ha! That's what I was wanting you to mention so everyone will know you will be in it very soon. Smart, huh? Ha-ha. So, Ray, what gets you up in the morning?
RO: I get up in the morning knowing that I have the love and support of the ones that matter the most.
WP: That will get a person up every morning, for sure! How do you approach a challenge?
RO: I approach a challenge with full force and with no fear.
WP: How do you create balance in your life?
RO: I create balance in my life by always making time for the people I love.
WP: You mentioned earlier that you will be working with our Senior Photographer, John at bbpics.com. I also know you have worked with him the past. What was it like working with him?
RO: He is the most professional and outgoing photographer I've ever worked with.
WP: How did he go over and beyond for you?
RO: He always goes out of his way to make sure each setting is unique and professional.
WP: Would you recommend him to your friends? If so, Why?
RO: Yes! Because out of all the photographers, he makes a person look their best.
WP: Oh geez, John is going to be so hard to work with after these compliments! Ha-Ha! What one piece of advice you can share with me on how to gain the most muscle the fastest?
RO: To gain muscle quicker, you must eat Protein and use weights only. Do no cardio.
WP: I am sure all of your fans want to know if you are married, dating, or single?
RO: I have a beautiful girlfriend whom has two awesome kids.
WP: You sound like you really care about her. Who had the most impact on you growing up?
RO: My brother, Ken.
WP: What is your work out regimen?
RO: I do 1hour of cardio and 1 hour of weights.
WP:Anything you would like to see change in the bodybuilding world?
RO: I would like for us to all be given the same opportunites based on performance, talent and not by “Who you know”.
WP: Good point made! Any shout outs?
RO: Yes! To my girlfriend, Melissa, for all her love and support and to my photographer, John, for being such a good friend.
WP: What is the funniest story that has happened to you during competitions or while working out?
RO: I was all hyper and into my workout when I went to push my earphones into my ears and pushed one too hard. It got stuck in my ear and had to have someone pull it out with tweezers.
WP: OMG! I've never heard that one before! That would be funny after you got it out! Ha-ha! What is your greatest achievement in fitness?
RO: It was when I hit 3 percent body fat.
WP: Yes! Yes, that would be an accomplishment. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
RO: I would like to be about to relax more. I am alittle too hyper.
WP: Is there anything else you would like to add? Now is the time!
RO: Just always work hard and put in 100%. You can do anything you set your mind to.
WP: You have been a pleasure to interview! Thank you for your time, and good luck in your future modeling and fitness endeavors!
