WP: Jon is a 21 year old fitness model & bodybuilder, residing in the Tampa Area. He was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania in a large family with two brothers and a sister. He moved to Florida and got into bodybuilding when he was about 17. He’s a very energetic person with a positive out look on life. “I don’t take life for guaranteed and try to live every day like it’s my last. I’m highly motivated and a born competitor in not only the gym, but in every day activities. Whether it’s a game of chess, a video game, or a backyard football game, my competitive edge will come out. I have a fun personality and enjoy meeting new people”, says Jon.
We are sure you have seen Jon is various magazines and on the internet. He got his start when he first modeled in a layout for Exercise for Men Only.
So, Jon, your physique is rocking! How do you keep the physique you have? What is the hardest thing for you to face when it comes to keeping your physique?
JM: What can you say? I’m a meathead! I train in the gym 5-6 times a week. My workouts vary from about 45 minutes to almost 2 hours. I also do cardiovascular exercises 2-3 times a week. I’m continuously on a strict routine & try to diet & eat right as much as possible.
WP: Well, it's sure working for you! What are your best lifts?
JM: My best lifts would have to be bench press & bicep curls. My maximum bench is 355 pounds & I can curl 80 pounds with a single dumbbell.
WP: What do you eat in a normal day?
JM: For breakfast I’ll eat cooked eggs, oatmeal, or cereal along with an apple or banana. For lunch, I usually eat like a ham or turkey sandwich along with a salad. My dinner usually consists of chicken breast, steak, or fish along with a salad, fruits & vegetables, and maybe a baked potato. I also will have a protein bar before my workout or a protein shake after.

WP: Do you allow yourself a cheat day?
JM: I would have to admit, I do occasionally have a cheat day. What can I say? I have a big sweet tooth. However, I try to limit that to only one day a week!
WP: I am sure you get asked this question a lot because your physique screams, "Fit!" What supplements do you take?
JM: Like many bodybuilders & athletes, my closet is also full of supplements. I take both pre-workout & post-workout products. Some products that I have used & have had success with include Redline, Super Pump 250, NO Explode, Cytogainer, & Muscle Milk.
WP: You are pretty well known in the modeling industry. Tell us about your modeling.
JM: I’ve been in the modeling industry for about three years now. I have done mostly fitness work along with a few fashion shoots. I was published in my first fitness magazine last year in “Exercise for Men Only” for a chest routine. I’m probably best known for my work with All American Guys. However, I think my recent work with BB Pics will get a lot of attention, as well!
WP: Tell me about your future projects. Have any in sight?
JM: Yes, in fact I’m working on a few projects as we speak! I will be shooting for my own personal fitness DVD here shortly with my brother. So make sure your looking for it! Also, I plan to start my own In-Home Personal Training Program here soon.
WP: Wow! That should keep you busy for a while! Let me know when you get that DVD shot! I'd like to see that! Do you have anyone you can thank for helping you get where you are?
JM: Yes, My brother, Paul, has helped me a lot along the way. He is a personal trainer with a lot of knowledge in bodybuilding, dieting, and nutrition. He inspired me to get into shape and to try and get bigger than him. I’d have to admit he still has bigger arms, but I’m more cut! Ha-ha.
WP: Ohhh, I feel a battle starting! Ha-ha! How do you approach a challenge?
JM: I love challenges! Let’s face it, this world offers a lot of challenges & isn’t exactly the easiest. I try to stay on track as much as possible & keep my head up even when I encounter obstacles in my life. I know that if I can fight through challenges, I will be stronger for it in the end.

WP: Talking about challenges, you worked with our Senior Photographer, John at bbpics.com. What was it like working with him? Just kiddin' John, you know we love you!
JM: John is a great guy to work with. Unlike some photographers, John has a great deal of knowledge in fitness & bodybuilding. Along with his great eye for photography, John found a way to bring out muscles in my body that I have never seen before! His energy & enthusiasm for what he does is easily seen in his photography.
WP: How did he go over and beyond for you?
JM: One of the first things that impressed me with John was that he picked me up from the airport. I have traveled a lot to work with photographers and no other photographer has taken the time to do that. It’s very inconvenient to have to take a taxi, plus it can be very costly! On a photographer’s standpoint, he is very hard-working & takes all of his personal time and energy to try & make you succeed.
WP: Would you recommend him to your friends?
JM: Yes. I would recommend him to any model in the fitness industry. He is such a professional & his photography is next to none.
WP: Thank you! I like to ask about what the Models think about our Photographers because, believe it or not, our Photographers really work hard for the models. They deserve to be brought out in the opening just like the Models! What one piece of advice you can share with me on how to gain the most muscle the fastest?
JM: Stay strict to a routine. Dieting & supplements help, but you need to be in the gym four to five days a week. Before you begin to add weight, make sure your technique is first perfected. Start off with a few exercises and once you’ve perfected them add more variety & weight. Train hard & be patient. Results will come!
WP: It has to become a lifestyle. Like you said, it doesn't happen over night. But, you will feel the difference in your energy and how your feel about yourself shortly after starting! It can change your entire life and world in a positive way.
Jon, I am sure all the ladies about to die for me to ask this question. Are you married, dating, or do you have kids?
JM: Ha-ha! I’m a single man, ladies. I date occasionally, but the Florida has a lot of women to offer. It can be easily distracting and tough to stay focused on one girl haha. At the same time, I believe there is a time and place for it. My career & schooling are more important to me right now. Everything else can fall into place as it may.
WP: What is your work out regimen?

JM: I break my workouts throughout the week into different muscle groups. Here is a typical workout schedule for a week:
Mon: Chest & Triceps
Example: Mon.
Bench Press
Cable cross-over
Incline dumbbell press
Dips
Push-ups
Triceps Extensions
Tues. Shoulders & Lats
Example:
Dumbbell shoulder press
Lat pull downs
Shoulder raises
Wed. Quads, Hamstrings & calves
Example:
Squats
Lunges
Calf raises
Leg Curls
Leg Extensions
Thurs. Back & Bicep
Example:
Cable curls
Dumbbell rows
Dumbbell curls
Dead lift
Seated rows
Friday: Full Body
Example:
Triceps cable press downs
Chest press
Squats
Shoulder raises
Preacher curls
Lat pull downs
Dips
I couple this workout regimen with about 10-15 minutes of core exercises at the end of my workouts. I also do cardio about three times a week.
WP: Awesome work out! Thank you for breaking that down for us! Have you played in sports before?
JM: Yes, I love sports! I grew up in a small sports town, so I was around sports at an early age. I participated in football, baseball, and track though-out middle school and into high-school. After graduating high-school I joined a semi-pro football team in the Tampa area and played the last three years as a defensive back & receiver.
WP: What are your interests outside of bodybuilding?
JM: I enjoy the outdoors and hanging out at the local beaches. I also like to play sports, go fishing, or to go boating in my spare time.
WP: Just one set of questions left, Jon. I bet you are ready to get back to the gym! So, I won't hold you up much longer. Do you use dumbbells, free weights, machine or all of the above?
JM: All of the above.
WP: Why?
JM: I believe it’s important to use all of the above because if you’re just using machines, for example, you’re only using one motion. Using free weights and dumbbells requires different motions and hits different muscles in your body as compared to the same ones over and over.
WP: Is there anything else you would like to add? Now is the time!
JM: I just want to say that for all those beginners just starting out & amateur bodybuilders that it’s important not to get discouraged by lack of results right away. Muscle doesn’t grow over night and there’s no miracle supplement out there! Just be patient & train hard, and results will come; I promise!
WP: You have been a pleasure to interview! Thank you for your time and good luck in your future bodybuilding endeavors!
JM: Thank you so much. I’m off to the gym now! Ha-ha!
