Interview With Chady Dunmore
Transformation of the Month - February 2010

Interviewed by: Tammy Renee'
WP: From the age of 4, Chady struggled with a kidney disease in which both of her kidneys did not function correctly. Her mother wanted to make sure it would not affect her growing up and made lifestyle changes, from eating right to making sure she was drinking lots of fluids, to limiting the amount of salt in her diet. Chady grew up completely aware of her condition and kept up a healthy, athletic lifestyle throughout her grade school years and college. But the true test came when she was married and became pregnant with her first child. She was a high risk pregnancy. She became extremely ill and could not work-out or be as mobile as she thought she would be. After 9 months of pregnancy, she had gained over 70 pounds and after giving birth, she weighed 200 pounds!
“I became very depressed and uncomfortable with my physique. ”What happened to me?!” I knew I had to make a decision...”
WP: Congratulations on winning our ‘Transformation of the Month’. How does it feel to be considered for such a title?
CD: Yay! I am so flattered to be featured as the transformation story of the month! I'm glad I am able to share my story to the readers out there who can relate to the struggles I had with my health and weight.
WP: We appreciate people that want to reach out and help others! With your transformation, did you decide to go with a Personal Trainer, self knowledge, or a gym?
CD: I decided to go with a trainer. I knew I could not push myself as much as my trainer would be able to. The knowledge of a trainer can go such a long way and stay with you forever; from the proper way of lifting weights to tips on nutrition. Yeah, we all know how to walk or run on a treadmill, but I feel only a trainer can take you to the next level and challenge you in ways, physically, you never thought of. A trainer will hold you accountable for what you do in and out of the gym and I knew that was what I needed.
WP: Did you have a support group helping you or did you do this alone?
CD: Ha-ha! Yes, of course, I had a support group! I Know I would not be where I am at without the love and support of my family. But, at the end of the day, it’s just me doing this. I am the one who made the decision to workout 6 days a week 2 hours a day (One hour weight/circuit training, and one hour of cardio-sometimes split to 30 minutes in the morning and evening).
WP: How fast did you lose the weight?
CD: With the intense 6 day a week training schedule and clean dieting, I was able to lose 60 pounds in 4 months!
WP: Wow! It sounds like your body was starving to be back to normal. What made you decide you were ready to transform? What was that final straw?
CD: The obvious reason is my clothes were not going to fit me after the pregnancy, but also the concept of knowing I was in control of my results if I decided to take on this challenge. As a new mother, we are put in a new lifestyle change with the responsibility of a child who needs your constant care and attention. You can plan a schedule for the day but for the most part, being a new mom brings lots of accidents and delays with your lil' one. I wanted to take the bull by its horns and get on a regimen where I put myself on a schedule.
WP: What was the biggest challenge you faced while going through your transformation?
CD: Sleepless nights! My daughter was waking up every 2 hours to be feed a bottle and knowing I had to get up bright and early for intense training. Yikes!
WP: I know that feeling! Did you take any type of supplements during this time?
CD: While losing the baby weight, No I did not take any supplements except a multi-vitamin. I had the help from lots of coffee and sugar-free Red Bulls though (laughing).
WP: What program did you follow and explain how it worked for you?
CD: My trainer made it simple for me: Oatmeal and 3-4 egg whites in the morning, low carb protein shake immediately after my workout, and lean protein & veggies throughout the day. No juices, sodas, alcohol, bread, or dairy. I only had coffee before my workout and maybe an energy drink after to help me throughout the day but other than that, I was drinking lots of water!
WP: How does your life compare now to before your transformation?
CD: I am not only a mother to a beautiful little girl, but I compete in bikini and figure competitions, a personal trainer, a SCI-FIT athlete and a fitness model.
WP: It’s amazing what happens when you take control of your life instead of your life taking control of you! Outstanding! What type of effects has your transformation caused?
CD: My health is one of the biggest improvements, because I am more conscious of how to eat right and I have been drinking lots water. I have inspired other mothers I know to take charge of their health and physique and make the changes they always wanted to make.
WP: Do you believe that people can ‘spot reduce’? Please explain your answer.
CD: No, but I believe you can reduce your waist and still keep a butt all through diet and weight training.
WP: Did it ever come a time that you came to a ‘stand still’ in your progress?
CD: Yes, after I had lost the first 60 pounds it became more difficult to lose more weight or change my physique. That’s when my trainer changed my training adding more weight training and plyometrics.
WP: How long did it take for your complete transformation?
CD: I would say in about 7 to 8 months. I was looking better than I expected!
WP: How does your diet compare now to before?
CD: I’m eating every 2 to 3 hours now and before I would only eat 3 meals a day.
WP: Can you break down your daily diet into a sample diet for us?
CD: Breakfast: Oatmeal with 1 cup of Berries, 4 egg whites
Post workout: SCI-FIT Whey Isolate Protein Shake (choc/peanut butter)
1-1/2hr later: slice of Ezekial bread (cinnamon raisin) and 3 oz. of lean protein (turkey/chicken)
Lunch: 4 oz. of chicken with 1/2 sweet potato and veggies
Snack: 2 Flax rice cakes with 2 tbsp. of almond butter on each
Dinner: 4 oz. any protein with salad or vegetable (such as asparagus)
Drinking a minimum of no less than 64 oz. of water.
WP: What would you like to say to motivate others to transform their lives?
CD: You are in control of what your results can be.
WP: You have been modeling for a long time, haven’t you?
CD: Yes, I started modeling at the age of 13. I was discovered by an agent at a mall in Miami, Fl. He approached us with his business card which had a license number on it and asked if I could do a test shoot to possibly be represented by their agency. After a successful shoot, I was immediately signed and started auditioning after school and cheerleading practices. Within 3years, I became one of the Seven Miami Models on the Rise in Fashion Spectrum Magazine.
WP: What are you goals?
CD: My goal was first to just get in the best shape of my life after giving birth. Now my goals are to continue to pursue my career in fitness modeling, and possibly get my feet back in the entertainment industry with hosting a show, an event and commercial work. I would also love to develop a clothing line in fitness wear and swimsuits.
WP: How does your training differ when you are modeling and when you are not?
CD: When I am not getting ready for a competition and just maintaining my physique for modeling, my trainer will have me do more anaerobic training.
WP: What future projects do you have planned?
CD: I plan to compete in the Arnold in March as a bikini competitor, continue representing SCI-FIT nutrition & supplements because their products are just amazing, and tap more into fitness modeling.
WP: If you want to set up a photo shoot with us, we will be at the Arnolds and I know one of my photographers would die to shoot with you. Tell me more about your competing.
CD: I have been competing for about a year and did my 1st show not knowing how to walk on stage or know that we had to be tanned a certain way. Every show is a learning lesson. In my 1st show I placed 14th and then 3-4shows later, I won my class and the overall.
WP: How does your routine and life changes when you go from pre-contest to off-season?
CD: It doesn’t change much. I only fluctuate 5 to 7 pounds. On-season, I do more cardio and eat less starches.
WP: What do you like and dislike about competing?
CD: I love competing! The only thing I don’t like about it is how long it may take until you are on stage, which makes for a long day!
WP: Are you aiming for a Pro-card?
CD: Yes, I am planning to get my Pro-card. Just staying on track with food and diet and planning to just show the judges how much I deserve it at show time.
WP: What problems have you had as far as staying motivated and disciplined to stick with your workouts?
CD: Now working with a modeling agency that will send me out to auditions often, it can be hard to stay on track with training and diet. So on my off days, I try to get in the gym and make up for days I missed in training.
WP: What problems did you have to overcome in order to stay on track with your fitness program?
CD: I still struggle with my diet even though I am a trainer and fitness model. I am human and crave pizza and burgers too, so I learned how to have a slice or a burger when I crave it but get back on track immediately after, or work a little harder in the gym the next day. Everything is in moderation!
WP: What keeps fitness interesting to you?
CD: My trainer changes my workouts all the time so I'm never really bored, but when I do cardio; that's another story. I try to switch up my cardio from the usual machines to taking a spinning or kickboxing class in the gym instead.
WP: Tell me something about yourself that no one else knows. It’s just between us, no one else will know. Ha-ha.
CD: Ha-ha! I have this dream to host SNL one day.
WP: That’s a good dream to have! How have you, mentally and physically, changed over the years?
CD: I am a mother and being a mother changes you in so many ways, from giving me patience to appreciating the littlest things. I am more organized, because without a schedule, I can’t make it through the day because I feel lost!
WP: Any shout outs?
CD: I want to thank Marquis Phillips at Sugarfyx.com who started out as my trainer in this journey and still continues to play a role in my life.
,br>
I want to thank Doug Casebier at Total Body Advantage who currently trains me now (Yes, trainers have trainers). He completely sculpted my body and has given me the strength to get on stage and compete.
Last but not least, I want to thank my family, who are my biggest supporters, and most importantly, the father of our beautiful little girl Sid. Thank you for everything.
WP: Who had the most impact on you in your life thus far?
CD: My daughter had the most impact on my life thus far. She is an angel and has influenced me to be the best that I can be.
WP: What were you like in high school?
CD: A cheerleader....enough said. Ha-ha!
WP: Something told me you were a cheerleader! Ha-ha! If I were to open your fridge, what would I find in them?
CD: You would find lots of filled Tupperware!
WP: If I were to walk into your house and have a look around, what type of fitness equipment would I find?
CD: You would find lots of fitness DVD's and all my fitness equipment is in my trunk because I train most of my clients in their home.
WP: What is your hobby outside of fitness?
CD: My hobby outside of fitness is Photography. I love taking pictures in natural lighting outside.
WP: How do you make time for yourself? How do you relax and hide from the stress of the world?
CD: I don't try to hide from the world, but if I do I rent a movie, stay home, and relax as much as I can.
WP: Here is the place you can throw a plug in on anyone, any company, anything. Who do you want to plug?
CD: I want to also thank Clark Bartram who has opened so many doors for me in this fitness industry. He believed in me from day one and I will be forever thankful.
WP: The interview is coming to a close now. Is there anything that you would like to add prior the end of the interview?
CD: Thank you again for choosing me for the transformation story of the month and you will hear more about me sooner than later...Get excited!
WP: Oh, that sounds like a cover or you were picked to host the SNL. Ha! We are delighted to have you featured as our ‘Transformation of the Month’. Thank you for taking the time out to hold this interview with us. We wish you the best of luck in the future.
