In's and Out's of VibroKinesis Therapy
Product Review - May 2010
Interviewed by: Angie Courduff
WP: We're here with Randy Baltazar talking and learning more about VibroKinesis Therapy. Hello, Randy. Before we go into depth with the therapy, can you tell our readers a little more about you?
RB: Hello, Angie! I'm a Puerto-Rican-Filipino from Queens, New York, but now I live in Miami. I come from a family who is involved in athletics and health. I became involved in athletics because of my brothers and sister. They participated in competitive sports such as martial arts, tennis, and basketball. Therefore, it came naturally to me to play and be part of a team. Health and the health industry has been a part of my life since I could speak. My grandfather was a doctor in the Philippines, my father was one of the first Filipino doctors in New York City, and my older brother also became a doctor. I myself became a Recovery Specialist. Healing people is something which came naturally to me the same way it was for me to throw the football around with my brothers or take a kick from my sister when practiced Karate.
WP: You are a Master Recovery Specialist. Can you tell me a bit more about what you do?
RB: A Recovery Specialist must have a mind-set of complete commitment to their client during the recovery process. I must be able to identify a client’s biomechanical dysfunction and make a proper assessment to repair, maintain, and develop their body to its highest level of performance. I do this through RDT (Results Driven Therapy) which is a non surgical, non-invasive procedure but, most importantly, is drug free. I incorporate state-of-the-art therapeutic equipment, such as the K-Laser, which heals tissue and relieves pain by promoting blood circulation through the regeneration of capillaries. I also use two electro-mechanical massage percussion instruments, known as the G5 and VibraCussor, which successfully provide me the ability to break down and access the most stubborn and deepest layers of scar tissue (my arch nemesis!) without interfering with my client’s ability to train or perform. My most important role as a Recovery Specialist is to work in a team with other doctors, specialists, physical trainers, and personal trainers because my main goal is to do what is in the best interest of my clients.
WP: How did you first become interested in healing and recovery?
RB: My first introduction to therapy came as a child. My mother and father would have me walk on their backs for fun. It was a game to me as a little kid. I had no idea my father was strategically placing my feet on acupuncture points. Sometimes, I would come home from school and find my mom’s face covered in needles and would start to cry. My father explained to me that this was a healing process which makes people feel better. In 1996, I was training as a Muay-Thai fighter and I found ways to heal myself and my training partners’ injuries in a surprisingly short period of time. Along the way, I made up my own style of massage by combining Chinese Acupressure, Shiatsu and Polynesian techniques. Soon after I created VibroKinesis, I pursued a degree in Health and Science from the Florida College of Natural Heath.
WP: Can you tell me about VibroKinesis Therapy? How did it first developed?
WP: You’ve had some pretty well-known clients who have benefited from VibroKinesis Therapy! Can you tell me about the issues they had and how this therapy helped them?
RB: I have been fortunate to work with athletes at the highest level. In 2007, I was the therapist and cornerman for WBO Heavy Weight Champion Shannon Briggs, and most recently I was the therapist for Sengoku Middle Weight Jorge Santiago who retained his title in March of 2010. The therapy I gave both fighters helped them to train longer and harder than their opponents. Every day we trained together I would study their every movement because visually I see their muscles and bodies as the Ironman. Every piece of their body is an intricate piece of machinery with a specific function and I am the one which is able to fix that Ironman. There is nothing better than to see an athlete which has had an injury for a long time and watch them train without any fear because of a past or nagging injury. They look for the pain to be there, but when they make a movement and the pain is just not there it promotes confidence in their abilities.
WP: What sets VibroKinesis apart from other healing and recovery techniques?
RB: The name of the game is breaking down scar tissue fast to lengthen and broaden the fibers which increases blood flow, oxygen, nutrients and metabolic waste removal so that you have a muscle which is working in optimum peak conditions. It’s Results Driven Therapy (RDT) which reduces the client’s down time. The technology used by VibroKinesis treats acute, sub-acute and chronic conditions with ease due to their ability to break down scar tissue with high speed multidirectional action of horizontal and vertical stroking that destroys layers of accumulated unwanted webbing.
However, technology will never take the place of my ability to make a proper tactile assessment! Through the use of my hands and foot skills, I help the body to release and stop body armoring. VibroKinesis is different not because it’s the next generation of a branch from the tree of healing, but because this style is still true to its organic roots. The human touch is still the ultimate tool hands down G’s UP!
WP: Who can benefit from VibroKinesis?
RB: Anyone can benefit from VibroKinesis! The 7' 2", 500 pound pro wrestler will benefit the same way the runner with a prosthetic leg can benefit from VibroKinesis. Athletes all have one thing in common: scar tissue. Scar tissue is created from the day we are born and it is what gives our muscles integrity. Yet, too much scar tissue will create a biomechanical dysfunction which causes the nerves to become compressed or entrapped and, if left untreated, injuries or worse can occur. No matter what type of athlete an individual is, they will benefit from the increased blood flow and circulation to muscle tissue throughout their body.
WP: That is truly fantastic! How would you like to see VibroKinesis expand and develop? Do you see other techniques branching off from it?
RB: VibroKinesis is looking to become the therapy of choice for athletes and performers of all types. We want to see groups of therapists dedicated to their respective sports. VibroKinesis therapy is customized as the needs of a race car driver are different from those of a tennis player even though they both share the same need which is to break up scar tissue.
Absolutely other techniques will be created as the technology continues to advance in conjunction with techniques which were created thousands of years ago. The machines and devices help me to be more precise with my therapy, but I still have to touch my clients with my hands so that I can determine what I can do and how to proceed with the best treatment possible. As we speak, I am developing new ways to address my client’s needs. Every time I touch a different athlete from a different sport, I can tell which muscles have underlying issues and past injuries. You know, I could get more into how I do this and what I do to resolve the deficiencies I find, but it’s Top Secret!
RB: I utilize every technique that I can pull out of my tool bag. I have been trained by some of the best in the industry and I use a little of this and a little of that to achieve the desired results. I’m not afraid to know my limitations. There comes a time when you have to send someone to see a doctor because they can do things that I simply just cannot do. I know my place in the master plan of therapy and recovery.
WP: What do you feel has been your stepping stone to get where you are today?
RB: The stepping stone for VibroKinesis has been the ability to get a core group of individuals to work as a team with the ultimate goal of helping others. I have found that people want to help me but all they are interested in is what they are going to get in return. VibroKinesis is interested more in how we are going to help our clients achieve their goals. If our clients are achieving their goals at the highest level, we will get compensated for our efforts in the same manner.
WP: How do you create balance in your life?
RB: I create balance in my life by doing things which I love to do. There is nothing like getting strapped into a race car and whipping around corners and turns. The adrenaline rush is just amazing when you are doing 120 miles an hour down a straight away and having the wind blowing through your helmet. The Russian bath house is my little get away from the rest of the world. Yoga in a hot room and then taking a cold plunge is just awesome. I love spending time with my family and friends but nothing brings balance to my life like a tall glass of sweet tea.
WP: It’s the little things in life that bring us the most pleasure! Where would you like to see yourself in 10 years?
RB: Working with NASA and VIRGIN GALACTIC! The truth is, TEAM VibroKinesis ARE ALIENS. We believe our therapy will also be used for anyone performing an activity which puts a high amount of stress on the body. I use VibroKinesis therapy on race car drivers and they show a remarkable amount of pain relief and improvement on their daily life because of the therapy I perform on them.
WP: I must say, you are hard-working little aliens! Randy, it has been a pleasure! Thank you so much for doing this interview and informing us about VibroKinesis! I wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors!
RB: Thank you for giving VibroKinesis and myself the chance to show World Physique readers how important it is to receive proper therapy in order to train effectively and perform at the highest level!
