Interview With Wade Kirk
Featured Athlete - 2009

WP: It's a pleasure to have you here, Wade! Let’s begin with you telling us a little about yourself.
WK: My name is Wade Kirk. I am the owner of FLEX PERSONAL TRAINING. I have been interested in fitness and bodybuilding for several years. It is something I have found to motivate myself and others in the search to maintain a healthier lifestyle. I am currently aspiring to become a fitness model, along with opening my own nutrition store "NEWtrition".
WP: Sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders. What was it that made you know without a doubt that you wanted to go into bodybuilding?
WK: When college football was over I knew I needed something to keep my competive edge. So, natural bodybuilding and lifting weights felt really good to me.
WP: How long have you been lifting?
WK: Roughly 10 years (seriously for 6).
WP: That's a good time to get your feet wet! Have you competed yet? If so, what titles have you won?
WK: 1st place-Novice
2nd place-24 and Under
3rd place-Middle Weight
ONBF (Ohio Natural Bodybuilding Federation) spring 2007
WP: You've hit pretty high each time! What are your best lifts?
WK: My best lifts are low row and T-bar rows.
WP: Do you have any advice to people that wish to build more mass and more cut?
WK: You are what you eat! It doesn’t get any more simple than that. What you eat is going to show in what your body looks like.
WP: So, if you are what you eat, what do you eat in a normal day?
WK: Lots of the basics: Chicken, eggs, oatmeal, veggies, rice and red wine!!!
WP: You know everyone is asking, "red wine?" right about now. It has proven positive effects. Do you allow yourself a cheat day?
WK: Depends on my mood, usually no! If so, it's always going to be ice cream.
WP: What supplements do you take?
WK: I take Protein, amino’s, and vit-pak.
WP: Could you tell me a story of how you have gotten where you are today?
WK: Well, to keep it short and sweet, I was always smaller when I was growing up and then I became interested in sports. Sports led to lifting and then when sports finally ended, I turned my love into only lifting and taking care of myself. I want to see how far I can take my body naturally.
WP: You've taken it pretty far naturally and I have to applaud you for that. Do you have anyone you can thank for helping you get where you are?
WK: All of my coaches and most importantly my wife!
WP: There must be some supportive wives out there because you're the second one I interviewed tonight that said that.. Tell me about your modeling.
WK: I’m relatively new to the modeling scene. I have only done a couple of shoots, but it is my next big goal to tackle.
WP: Where do you want to be in 5 years?
WK I want to be the successful owner of my own nutrition center (Newtrition), along with a well know fitness model. With my current success of owning my own personal training business (FLEX Personal Training)
WP: How do you keep the physique you have? What is the hardest thing for you to face when it comes to keeping your physique?
WK: Actually not much! I live by my own advice to my clients. You must stay consistent and love what you do to be successful.
WP: Tell me about your future projects. Have any in sight?
WK: I want to be the successful owner of my own nutrition center (Newtrition), along with a well know fitness model.
WP: What gets you up in the morning?
WK: My clients! I have clients that start at 6:00 a.m. Monday - Friday.
WP: Sounds like you are already successful. How do you approach a challenge?
WK: I like to take challenges head on! It is what makes me the best I can be. It’s a perfect example of why I chose modeling and bodybuilding; I’m not the biggest nor the most genetically gifted guy. That’s what makes me work harder and want it more than someone that may be better than me.
WP: I love that answer! How do you create balance in your life?
WK: With my wife, family and dog. When work is over for the day, I love to just sit and relax with a great bottle of red wine.
WP: Sounds very relaxing! I understand you worked with our Senior Photographer, John at bbpics.com. What was it like working with him?
WK: Working with John was great! It was my first photo shoot experience, so I had no idea what to expect. John made it so easy for me to find my strengths in modeling and bring that out in my photos. I can’t wait to do another shoot with him soon and would recommend anyone to John looking to further their modeling career.
WP: How did he go over and beyond for you?
WK: With John he always makes sure you look, feel and want the best photos which you can clearly see in his work!
WP: What one piece of advice you can share with me on how to gain the most muscle the fastest?
WK: Hard work, heavy weights, eat, eat, and eat some more! It's that simple.
WP: Who had the most impact on you growing up?
WK: My father and sport coaches made the most impact on me while growing up.
WP: What is your work out regime?
WK: Right now, it's crazy because I’m trying to get my nutrition store open in a couple weeks, but for right now, I get what I can when I can. Without sacrificing anything!
WP: Any shout outs?
WK: My wife, Lindsay, and John Mitchell! And to anybody else that has helped me so far in my journey
WP: What is your greatest achievement in bodybuilding?
WK: That would be the day I graduated from college.
WP: What are your interests outside of bodybuilding?
WK: Traveling! I love to see all I can anywhere I can. Art is also another passion of mine for free time.
WP: Then modeling is your thing if you love to travel! If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
WK: Bigger calves! Ha-ha.
WP: Is there anything else you would like to add? Now is the time!
WK: Thanks to you, Tammy Renee', owner and President of World Physique for this interview and John Mitchell for the info about this site. I hope to work with World Physique sometime in the future! Thanks again.
WP: You have been a pleasure to interview! Thank you for your time, and good luck in your future bodybuilding endeavors!
